We need foster homes desperately! We can only save as many animals as we have temporary homes for, so if you can be a temporary home for an animal on the way to its forever home, we'd love your help! It is a great way to really make a difference!

Spaying/Neutering

There are not enough homes for the animals born each year, which means adoption can never be the primary solution to overpopulation. Spaying and neutering in large numbers is absolutely essential. It is time to act responsibly so innocent animals will not have to pay the price. To this end, a low cost clinic has been opened in Indianapolis. FACE is based on the simple fact: stop dogs and cats from breeding and you will not have to kill their offspring. They offer low-cost spaying and vaccination, as low as $15/$20 for cats and $20/$25 for dogs. We cannot express enough the importance of spaying and neutering your pet. Even if you do find homes for your pet's litters they take up the place of animals that could've been placed in homes but will be euthanized instead. Please be a responsible pet owner, spay or neuter your pet. FACE can be contacted at #317-638-3223. You can also visit their website at http://www.facespayneuter.org/.

Another low cost spay/neuter option for cats is the Neuter Scooter. Visit their website at: http://www.neuterscooter.com/. The Neuter Scooter often makes visits to Logansport.

On the right is a link to Pets and Animals in stress. You can sign a petition for a statewide mandatory Free Spay/Neuter program for all public county kill shelters to provide free spay/neutering services to all county residents. Spaying and neutering animals will prevent future unwanted animals, thus fewer animals in shelters that will be destroyed. We all need to be responsible pet owners by having our pets spayed or neutered, but unfortunately, not all pet owners can afford to have the surgery done or put forth the financial priority/responsibility to do so.

How would crating benefit my dog/puppy?

When you adopt a new puppy or dog, your new pet won't know the rules of the household right away. Puppies naturally want to chew on things, and often don't know to use the bathroom outside, not inside.

Some uninformed people may think that putting a dog in a cage or crate is cruel. But crating a dog is as much for his benefit as it is for yours. It will provide him his own space from the rest of the family should he need to get away from it all. Children should never be allowed to play on or around the crate. Since he won't go to the bathroom in his living quarters, he will keep out of trouble and keep you on his good side. And he won't be allowed to chew anything that is not in his crate. Only when he is under your supervision will he be able to get himself into trouble when you can gently correct him.

Please read more about crate training by clicking here.
